Host a Screening
I feel extremely fortunate to have captured on film a time in the music industry that is so incredibly exciting for indie artists. But since the film was essentially a d.i.y. project with no financial backing, it did not have a theatrical release and does not have major distribution. So to increase awareness about this 'indie' revolution taking place in the music industry, I need your help!

So I'm willing to give anyone who owns a DVD copy of the film permission to host their own screening! If you don't have the DVD yet, you can visit this link to order it.

*Why am I asking you to buy the DVD? See the FAQ at the bottom of the page.

So what does hosting your own screening mean?

Screenings can be:

• At a live show in a bar/club with indie artists performing before and/or after the film.

• At a ‘house-screening’ where the film is shown in someone’s home and can be coupled with a house-concert where artists also perform.
Benefits
Now, I realize that by organizing a screening you'd be doing me a huge favor, so I'm of course willing to offer some benefits for screening hosts:

Re-Sell DVD's

Anyone who organizes a screening will be given permission to re-sell the DVD's. Basically, you'll be able to buy the DVD's at a discount and re-sell them for $20 at screenings!

Affiliate Store

You'll be able to set up an Affiliate Store where I'll sell the DVD's through a special link you can provide to people at your screening and you'll get $5 for every DVD sold, PLUS win prizes depending on how many you sell!

Media Support

For screenings at clubs/bars etc., I'll provide help with media mailouts and press releases. With your local media getting hit from at least 2 places, it will no doubt help gain more exposure for the show, your music, and the film. Indies helping indies, the way it should be!

Here's a breakdown of the benefits I see for artists and non-artists who host a screening:

Artists:

1. Make some $ by re-selling the DVD's and through your own Affiliate Store
2. You can use it as a special event to attract more people to your next show
3. You can use it as a special event to attract media attention (with me helping you)
5. You will gain exposure through the film’s website and newsletter
6. The event can be used as an excuse to network with other artists you always wanted to meet
7. And finally, you'll be contributing to the indie music revolution!

Non-Artists:

1. Make some $ by re-selling the DVD's and through your own Affiliate Store
2. The event can be used as an excuse to work with artists you always wanted to meet by inviting them to play at your screening!
3. And of course, you'll be contributing to the indie music revolution!
Get Started
So if you're interested in hosting a screening, simply e-mail me and we'll get you all set up. Remember, the only cost to you is buying the DVD and whatever you choose to spend on promoting your screening.

And once you agree to organize a screening, you'll then be given a link to hosting resources where you can order DVD's to re-sell, join the Affiliate Program, order postcards and posters, and download other materials to have at your screening!

FAQ

Q: Why do I have to buy a copy of the DVD?
A: Well, it's simply to help cover the costs of having self-produced the film. And in fact, public performance copies of DVDs can cost upwards of $400 (seriously!), but because I want as many people to see the film as possible, I am only asking that screening hosts pay the regular price for the DVDs.

Q: What equipment would I need to show a film?
A:

1. DVD Projector w/access to sound system (Preferably 1200+ Lumens)
2. A Screen (Preferably 60" x 60" or larger). Can't get a screen? Even a white wall can do the trick!
3. DVD player or Laptop w/DVD player

Many clubs are now equipped to have video screenings, so the best thing to do is find a club that already has the equipment in place. But if not, it can all be rented or borrowed from schools or Video Equipment Stores, depending on your city.

Q: Can you help cover any costs of organizing my screening?
A: Unfortunately, probably not. Unless I am active in organizing the event and will be attending myself, you'll have to cover all expenses associated with your screening.

Q: If my screening makes a profit, do I have to send you a percentage?
A: If you've made money with your screening I would of course welcome a small % (hey, who would refuse money?!), but I am not going to chase you down for it or make you sign any contracts or anything like that. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether you send some money my way after your screening.

Q: I've bought the film, now what?

A: Once you have bought the DVD and have secured a date for your screening, simply e-mail me with the details and I'll post the information on my site (if it's open to the public). Then I'll send you a link to hosting resources where you'll be able to sign-up for the Affiliate Program, buy DVDs for re-sale and download other materials for your screening.

"I strongly recommend that people in the Indie music community get together in groups to watch this documentary, because they will want to discuss it. This documentary may focus on a specific question, but the effect on the viewer is like a rallying cry."
